Sat May 10 16:30:00 UTC 2025: ## IPL Suspended Amidst India-Pakistan Tensions

**DHARMASHALA, INDIA** – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a one-week suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) citing escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The decision, made with player safety as the paramount concern, follows the abrupt halt of a Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match in Dharamshala. The BCCI reportedly utilized the Vande Bharat Express to evacuate players from the area.

Foreign players are reportedly returning home, raising concerns about the tournament’s resumption. While the BCCI is providing logistical support for all players’ travel, the return of foreign players and support staff within the one-week suspension period remains uncertain. Reports suggest some foreign players were particularly distressed by the situation in Dharamshala.

The BCCI has instructed all ten IPL franchises to ensure their players and support staff are prepared to resume the tournament after a week. The organization will review the situation after seven days, and the IPL’s continuation hinges on de-escalation of the India-Pakistan tensions. If the situation improves, a revised schedule will be announced. However, if tensions persist, the BCCI may suspend the season indefinitely.

With 57 matches already played and 16 remaining out of a total of 74, the suspension marks a significant disruption to the tournament. The halted match in Dharamshala is expected to be completed at a later date.
