Sat May 10 03:12:45 UTC 2025: ## Indian MP Donates Salary to Armed Forces After Pahalgam Attack

**Patna, Bihar, May 10, 2025** – Following the recent Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent Indian military retaliation, Janata Dal (United) MP Devesh Chandra Thakur has announced he will donate his annual salary of ₹15 lakh to the Indian armed forces via the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

Thakur, who represents Sitamarhi in the Lok Sabha, cited the armed forces’ unwavering dedication to national security as his motivation. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of the situation, specifically commending the choice of “Operation Sindoor” as the name for the military operation, and the selection of two women officers to brief the media. He criticized Congress leader Udit Raj for criticizing the operation’s name, arguing that the terrorists’ targeting of Hindu tourists based on their religion negated any claims of the name being religiously insensitive.

The MP’s gesture comes amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. Thakur expressed confidence that his action would inspire others to contribute to the nation’s defense efforts. In a separate show of solidarity, Bihar’s Environment Minister, Dr. Sunil Kumar, planted a vermilion sapling at the Thawe temple in Gopalganj.
