**NEW DELHI** – Following recent cross-border escalations with Pakistan, leading security analyst Michael Rubin has advised India to emulate Israel’s post-1972 Munich Olympics response to terrorism. While commending India’s measured response, Operation Sindoor, to Pakistani aggression along the Line of Control and International Border, Rubin emphasized the need for a long-term strategy mirroring Israel’s “Operation Wrath of God.”
Rubin pointed to Israel’s relentless, years-long pursuit and elimination of those responsible for the Munich massacre as a model for India. He argued that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should adopt a similar proactive approach to dismantling terrorist networks, echoing Modi’s own vow to hunt down terrorists “to the ends of the Earth.” This vow followed the religiously-motivated Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, claimed by the Pakistan-linked Resistance Front, a shadow organization of the Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Rubin highlighted the cyclical nature of terrorism, where periods of relative quiet allow terrorists to regroup and plan further attacks, as seen recently in Israel. He criticized Pakistan’s denial of its role in sponsoring terrorism, urging the country to shut down terrorist camps and extradite all terrorists operating within its borders, regardless of affiliation. He praised India’s measured response to Pakistani provocations and its successful thwarting of multiple cross-border attacks, highlighting India’s careful and precise military actions. Rubin concluded that if Pakistan genuinely wished to distance itself from terrorism, it must cease all support for terrorist organizations immediately.
