Sat May 10 17:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Hours After Agreement, Launches Drone Attacks Across India
**New Delhi:** Just four hours after a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, Pakistan launched multiple drone attacks across several Indian states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu, and Srinagar. One drone was reportedly sighted near Vaishno Devi in Jammu, prompting a blackout in the area.
The attacks have raised serious concerns about the control the Pakistani government has over its military. Many believe that Army Chief General Asim Munir, who recently made statements supporting a “two-nation theory,” is operating independently of the civilian government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and may be responsible for ordering the attacks, including a previous attack in Pahalgam. This attack specifically targeted Hindus in the region. The motive behind the drone attack targeting Vaishno Devi, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site, remains unclear.
Jammu and Kashmir bore the brunt of the Pakistani attacks, with over 50 explosions reported in Srinagar within 20 minutes alone. Loud blasts were also heard in Jammu, Udhampur, and Srinagar. The blatant disregard for the ceasefire demonstrates the Pakistani military’s defiance of the government, raising fears that General Munir is attempting to establish a dictatorship similar to that of former President Pervez Musharraf.
The ceasefire, welcomed earlier by Jammu and Kashmir political leaders including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, was short-lived, underscoring the volatile situation along the Line of Control (LoC). The swift violation casts a shadow over any hope for lasting peace in the region.
