Sat May 10 13:54:20 UTC 2025: ## Immediate Ceasefire Agreed Between India and Pakistan After US-Mediated Talks

**NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD** – A sudden ceasefire has come into effect between India and Pakistan following intense military action and US-mediated negotiations. The announcement was made simultaneously by both countries late this evening.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the agreement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity!”

US President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to declare the ceasefire, crediting the United States with mediating the agreement after a “long night of talks.” He praised both countries for their “common sense and great intelligence” in reaching the agreement.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the cessation of hostilities at a press briefing, stating that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both countries agreed to halt all firing and military action across land, air, and sea starting at 5 PM IST. A follow-up meeting between the DGMOs is scheduled for May 12th.

While celebrating the ceasefire, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s unwavering stance against terrorism, stating that India’s “firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations” would continue.

The ceasefire follows a period of heightened military activity. Pakistan launched a series of drone attacks and projectile barrages over the preceding 72 hours, targeting both civilian and military installations in India. India responded with precise strikes against Pakistani military installations and infrastructure, releasing photographic and video evidence to counter Pakistani disinformation campaigns. Several Pakistani air bases and defensive positions were reportedly damaged in the exchanges.

Indian military spokespersons emphasized that while the ceasefire is in effect, India’s diplomatic pressure on Pakistan continues, and the country remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and integrity. Any future escalation by Pakistan, they warned, will meet with a decisive response.
