Sat May 10 04:57:50 UTC 2025: ## India Downs Multiple Pakistani Drones, Retaliates After Cross-Border Attacks

**New Delhi, May 10, 2025** – India launched retaliatory strikes against Pakistan today, destroying multiple military posts and a terrorist launchpad, following a series of escalating cross-border attacks. The Indian Air Force shot down several Pakistani drones over Amritsar and other locations, while the Army responded with strikes targeting Pakistani military infrastructure.

The escalating tensions began after India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 6-7, targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan in response to a deadly April 22 attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians. Pakistan responded with a wave of drone attacks targeting Indian military installations and civilian areas across the northern and western borders, including Amritsar, Ferozepur, Barmer, and Jaisalmer. These attacks resulted in civilian injuries, including three members of a family in Ferozepur suffering burn injuries, one critically. Pakistan also engaged in shelling across the border, resulting in the death of a senior official in Rajouri.

The Indian Army described Pakistan’s actions as “unacceptable violations of sovereignty” and vowed to thwart all further attacks. A video released by the Indian Army depicted one of the downed Pakistani drones. Reports indicate powerful explosions were heard at three Pakistani air bases: Nur Jhan (Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal), and Rafiqui (Jhang). The Nur Jahan Air Base, located near Pakistan’s military headquarters, is considered a highly sensitive facility.

India’s strong response included the destruction of several Pakistani military posts and a launchpad used to launch tube-launched drones, according to sources. The Indian government has repeatedly accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism, a stance reiterated during yesterday’s International Monetary Fund (IMF) discussions where India abstained from voting on a $2.3 billion loan to Pakistan.

In a further escalation, Pakistan initially used civilian aircraft as a shield, but later closed its airspace to all civilian and commercial traffic. India also reported thwarting an infiltration attempt and killing seven terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district. The situation remains highly volatile.
