Sat May 10 13:13:02 UTC 2025: ## Kerala MP Urges Special Train for Citizens Stranded in Northern India Amid Tensions
**Alappuzha, May 10, 2025** – With tensions rising between India and Pakistan, Member of Parliament Kodikunnil Suresh has appealed to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for a special train to bring Keralites stranded in northern India back home. In a letter dated Saturday, Mr. Suresh highlighted the plight of numerous students, migrant workers, and other civilians from Kerala’s southern districts currently stranded in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and surrounding areas due to border unrest and disrupted transportation.
He specifically requested a special train service from New Delhi to Kollam, traversing Kozhikode and Kottayam to facilitate the safe return of those in the Malabar and southern regions of Kerala. Mr. Suresh also suggested allocating additional sleeper and general compartments to existing long-distance trains connecting New Delhi and Kerala to accommodate the increased passenger volume. This, he argued, would prevent further stranding and alleviate pressure on regular train services.
