Sat May 10 04:43:04 UTC 2025: ## 2,220 Mohan Babu University Students Achieve English Proficiency Through The Hindu’s STEP Program
**TIRUPATI, Andhra Pradesh, May 10, 2025** – Over 2,200 students from Mohan Babu University (MBU) in Tirupati have successfully completed The Hindu Group’s Standardised Test of English Proficiency (STEP) program, showcasing a dramatic improvement in their English language skills. A certification ceremony held Friday celebrated the students’ achievements, highlighting a remarkable increase in proficiency levels.
While only 2% of students scored at the B2 level or higher in a pre-assessment, a post-assessment revealed that 99% achieved this benchmark after completing the STEP program. Even more impressive, 952 students reached the C1 level, and 23 attained the highest C2 level of proficiency.
Kola Triveda, a student in the CSE (AI and Machine Learning) department, topped the exam and received a certificate, a detailed assessment report, and a ₹5,000 cash prize.
The Hindu’s National Sales Head (STEP), Saikrishnan Gopalaramanan, presented the certificates and lauded MBU’s dedication to enhancing students’ global communication skills. MBU officials expressed gratitude to the university’s leadership for their support of the initiative. The event underscored the program’s effectiveness in equipping students with essential skills for academic success and global communication.
