Fri May 09 18:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Escapes Scorching May Heatwave, Thanks to Thunderstorms

**Hyderabad, India –** Telangana is experiencing an unusual May, with the intense heatwave typically associated with the month significantly mitigated by widespread thunderstorms. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad, maximum temperatures will remain between 36°C and 40°C until May 15, far below typical levels.

The IMD attributes this cooler-than-expected weather to increased thunderstorm activity across the state. Dr. K Nagaratna, Head of IMD-Hyderabad, stated that the thunderstorms have resulted in considerably lower temperatures, preventing the usual May heatwave. Evening and night temperatures are also experiencing a drop.

Thunderstorm warnings, including lightning and gusty winds, are in effect for almost all districts of Telangana until May 15, with only a few exceptions. This unusual weather pattern provides welcome relief to residents, offering a respite from the typically scorching conditions.
