Sat May 10 15:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Hours After Agreement with India
**Srinagar/New Delhi:** A tense situation unfolded along the India-Pakistan border after a brief ceasefire agreement. Following an 86-hour conflict that concluded at 5 PM on Saturday with a mutually agreed ceasefire, Pakistan violated the truce just three hours later.
Heavy shelling from across the border recommenced in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, including Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura. A suspected drone attack also caused an explosion in Baramulla district. The Indian Army has been instructed to retaliate forcefully, with the government directing the BSF to respond decisively to the ceasefire violations.
Widespread blackouts have been reported across large parts of Jammu, Baramulla, and several areas of Srinagar following the renewed attacks. Reports also indicate a large number of drones approaching Pokhran in Rajasthan, although the defense system is reportedly destroying them. Rajouri has also seen further shelling, and blackouts are in effect in Amritsar and Firozpur in Punjab.
The ceasefire, announced earlier by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, was the result of a 3:35 PM meeting between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries. The agreement stipulated an immediate halt to all attacks – air, land, and sea – commencing at 5 PM on Saturday. Further talks between officials from both nations are scheduled for May 12th to discuss future strategies. The violation casts a shadow over the fragile peace and raises concerns about the future stability in the region.
