Sat May 10 02:57:44 UTC 2025: ## Telangana MLC Calls for Miss World Pageant Postponement Amidst India-Pakistan Tensions

**Hyderabad, India – May 10, 2025** – Amidst escalating tensions with Pakistan, a leading Telangana politician has called for the postponement of the Miss World pageant scheduled to be held in Hyderabad. K. Kavitha, a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and president of the party’s cultural wing, Telangana Jagruthi, argued that holding the pageant during a time of heightened military conflict would send the wrong message.

Speaking at a rally expressing solidarity with the Indian armed forces, Ms. Kavitha urged the state government to postpone the event, drawing a parallel to the postponement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches during similar circumstances. She emphasized the need for wisdom and national unity, stating that this is not a time for prioritizing prestige events.

The rally, which marched from Indira Park to RTC Crossroads, paid tribute to army soldier Murali Nayak, who was killed in recent Pakistani shelling. Ms. Kavitha highlighted Operation Sindoor, a military operation which she claims successfully destroyed nine major terrorist training camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan, without targeting civilians or public infrastructure. She contrasted this with what she described as Pakistan’s targeting of Indian civilian airports. Ms. Kavitha concluded by stressing every citizen’s responsibility to support the armed forces in their efforts to protect the nation.
