**Madurai, May 10, 2025** – The Madurai City Police have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for Monday, May 12th, in anticipation of Lord Kallazhagar’s entry into the Vaigai River during the Chithirai festival. Road closures and parking restrictions will be strictly enforced to manage the expected large crowds.

No vehicles will be allowed on the road leading to Ramarayar Mandapam, A.V. Bridge, and the Yanaikkal new bridge. Parking will also be prohibited near Obula Padithurai, Vaigai South Bank Road, and Vaigai North Bank Road. Vehicles from the south will be prevented from entering the north side via A.V. Bridge and Sellur new bridge.

A color-coded parking system will be implemented near the venue. Detailed routes for vehicles with green and blue cards have been specified, directing them to designated parking areas and exit routes. Specific routes have also been outlined for buses and heavy vehicles approaching from various directions.

Devotees attending the “Ethir sevai” and the Vaigai entry are directed to designated parking areas at various locations including the Gandhi Memorial Museum, Race Course ground, and several school and college grounds. The police urge all attendees to cooperate with the traffic plan to ensure a smooth and safe celebration.
