Sat May 10 14:27:54 UTC 2025: **Andhra Pradesh Attracts Major Investments in Aerospace and Defence Manufacturing**

VIJAYAWADA, INDIA – May 10, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh is experiencing a surge in investments in its aerospace and defence manufacturing (A&DM) sector, thanks in part to the influence of recently appointed advisors G. Satheesh Reddy and S. Somanath. Several Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including numerous MSMEs, have submitted proposals to establish facilities in the state.

The influx of investment is attributed to the credibility brought by Reddy (former DRDO chairman) and Somanath (former ISRO chairman). A Taiwanese company has already expressed interest in building a semiconductor plant in Kurnool district, while Avantel Ltd. and Astra Microwave Products Ltd. are also exploring opportunities in the state. Avantel, known for its work with the Indian Navy, is seeking land near Nuzvid for a new unit. Bharat Dynamics Ltd. is planning expansion in Visakhapatnam, and Goa Shipyard is also considering investment.

The Andhra Pradesh government is actively supporting this growth through its AP Aerospace & Defence Policy 4.0 (2025-29), which aims to develop four key clusters. The government is modeling its approach on the French system of OEM-led clusters. Industry associations suggest developing a defence corridor near Jaggaiahpet, while Orvakal and Kopparthy clusters are also attracting significant attention. The upcoming construction of the Next Generation Launch Vehicle at Sriharikota is expected to further boost the A&DM ecosystem. The advisors’ efforts are seen as instrumental in attracting this investment wave.
