**Thiruvananthapuram, May 10, 2025** – The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has received an additional ₹103.24 crore in funding from the state government, bringing the total aid provided in the past five weeks alone to ₹245.86 crore. Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal announced that ₹73.24 crore will cover pension payments, while ₹30 crore will address other operational needs.

This latest injection brings the total government support for KSRTC since the Left Democratic Front government took office in 2021 to nearly ₹6,307 crore, including ₹1,612 crore allocated in the current fiscal year (2024-25).

The news follows recent announcements of a comprehensive insurance scheme for KSRTC’s 22,095 permanent employees, effective June 4th and a planned full computerization of the transport utility by May 22nd. The insurance scheme, in collaboration with the State Bank of India, offers coverage up to ₹1 crore per employee. These measures aim to stabilize the financially challenged corporation.
