Fri May 09 23:30:00 UTC 2025: ## India Accuses Pakistan of Cross-Border Drone and Missile Attacks
**NEW DELHI** – India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) accused Pakistan of launching a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Indian security installations on the night of May 8th. The MEA, in a press conference on Friday, stated that the attacks involved the suspected use of Turkish-made drones, likely the “Assisguard Songar” model, commonly used for surveillance and precision strikes. Preliminary forensic analysis of recovered drone debris supports this claim.
The MEA reported that Pakistani forces violated Indian airspace multiple times across the western border between May 8th and 9th, aiming to target military infrastructure. These attacks were accompanied by heavy-caliber firing along the Line of Control (LoC). Furthermore, approximately 300-400 drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles attempted incursions at 36 locations spanning from Leh to Sir Creek, along the international border and LoC.
The objective of the attacks, according to the MEA, was to assess the capabilities of India’s air defense systems, gather intelligence, and potentially sow fear among the population. While most drones were unarmed, one armed UAV attempted to target a military station in Bathinda before being destroyed.
India responded forcefully, deploying armed drones that targeted four Pakistani air defense sites. The MEA confirmed that at least one Pakistani air defense radar was successfully destroyed in the counter-attack. The incident highlights escalating tensions between the two nations.
