Sat May 10 04:10:00 UTC 2025: ## India Intercepts Pakistani Fateh-2 Missile, Repels Drone Attacks

**NEW DELHI** – India successfully intercepted a Pakistani Fateh-2 ballistic missile launched towards its territory early Saturday, triggering a high alert across major cities. While Pakistani media reported the missile targeted Delhi, Indian authorities have not officially confirmed this. The interception, reportedly near Sirsa, Haryana, followed a series of retaliatory actions by India against Pakistani airbases on Friday night.

According to defense sources, these strikes targeted the Nur Khan Airbase (Rawalpindi), the Rafiqui Airbase (Shorkot, Punjab), and the Murid Airbase (Chakwal), inflicting significant damage on the Pakistan Air Force. These actions came in response to what India described as multiple waves of drone attacks launched by Pakistan on Friday night. These attacks, targeting military installations, airports, and critical infrastructure across several states from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat, were successfully neutralized, the defense ministry stated. However, a drone attack in Firozpur, Punjab, resulted in injuries to members of a single family.

Following the missile launch and drone attacks, a blackout was imposed in states bordering Pakistan. The defense ministry maintained the situation was under control and urged citizens to remain calm. The ministry reported detecting 26 drone incursions near the international border and Line of Control (LoC), some suspected of carrying weapons. Locations targeted included Baramulla, Srinagar, Awantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Firozpur, Pathankot, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, and Lakhna. The ministry emphasized that all drone attacks were successfully repelled.

The events follow what India has described as Pakistan’s “Operation Buniyan-ul-Marsoos,” launched in response to an earlier Indian operation. The escalating situation underscores heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
