Sat May 10 12:50:00 UTC 2025: ## India Retaliates After Pakistan Missile Attack; Accuses Pakistan of Spreading Disinformation

**NEW DELHI** – India and Pakistan are engaged in a serious military standoff, with escalating tensions along the border. Late last night, Pakistan launched a high-speed missile targeting an Indian airbase in Punjab, which was successfully neutralized. In response, the Indian Air Force conducted retaliatory strikes at eight locations within Pakistan, inflicting significant damage, according to Indian officials.

A press conference held by Colonel Sophia Kuraishi detailed the unfolding events. Colonel Kuraishi accused Pakistan of escalating the conflict by continuously targeting civilian and military installations using drones and fighter jets. She further denounced Pakistan’s dissemination of false information regarding the extent of damage inflicted on Indian military assets and infrastructure. Specific targets of the Indian retaliatory strikes included Pakistani military installations in Rahim Yar Khan, Shukoor, and other locations, along with radar sites and an aviation base in Sialkot. India stated that these strikes were conducted with minimal collateral damage.

The Indian government highlighted Pakistan’s misuse of civilian airliners originating from Lahore to mask its military activities. Colonel Kuraishi presented evidence refuting Pakistani claims of significant damage to Indian S-400 systems, airfields, and ammunition depots, asserting that these claims were spread through social media disinformation.

India’s Foreign Secretary, Vinay Kwatra, also addressed the situation, emphasizing the falsehoods in Pakistan’s claims of widespread destruction and damage to Indian power and infrastructure. He stated that Pakistan continues to target civilians and civilian structures, attempting to incite communal unrest within India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.

While acknowledging civilian casualties and infrastructure damage within India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government maintains that its military installations remain secure and that it has responded with restraint despite Pakistan’s continued aggression. The Indian military has emphasized its preference for de-escalation, contingent on Pakistan ceasing hostile actions.
