Fri May 09 13:55:57 UTC 2025: ## India Repels Cross-Border Attacks from Pakistan, Tensions Soar

**NEW DELHI** – India reported repelling multiple attacks from Pakistan across its western border overnight, involving drones and other munitions. The Indian Army stated that these attacks, which occurred on the night of Thursday into Friday, were successfully thwarted. Simultaneous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir were also met with retaliatory action, according to the Army.

The escalating tensions stem from a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, for which India blames Pakistan – a claim Pakistan denies. In response to the Pahalgam attack, India launched “Operation Sindoor,” reportedly striking nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) with 24 missiles.

The heightened alert prompted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to convene a national security review with top military officials. A high alert has been declared in Delhi, with government employee leaves cancelled, and several Punjab districts implementing night-time blackouts. Approximately 27 airports across India have been temporarily shut down. The situation remains highly volatile.
