**NEW DELHI** – Indian armed forces successfully intercepted at least eight missiles and multiple drones launched from Pakistan in a series of attacks targeting northern and western India on Thursday evening, sources revealed. The attacks, which reportedly involved the use of drones and missiles, targeted Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir, prompting authorities to activate air defenses and impose blackouts in affected areas. Reports also suggest an Indian Air Force downed a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet, though official confirmation is pending.
These attacks follow India’s preemptive strike earlier this week, codenamed “Operation Sindoor.” On Wednesday, India launched 24 missiles in 25 minutes, targeting nine alleged terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for a terror attack in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22nd that claimed 26 lives. India also claims to have destroyed a Pakistani air defense system in Lahore during this operation. All airports across India remain on high alert. The escalating situation underscores a significant deterioration in relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
