**Hyderabad, Telangana – May 9, 2025** – Three junior commandos of the Telangana police’s anti-Naxal force, Greyhounds, were killed and one injured in a Maoist ambush Thursday morning. The attack occurred in the Nugur forest area of Mulugu district, near the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.
The deceased were identified as Vadla Sridhar, N. Pavan Kalyan, and T. Sandeep. Assistant Assault Commander Ch. Ranadheer sustained injuries and is receiving treatment in Hyderabad. The ambush took place during a search operation launched to locate and defuse improvised explosive devices (IEDs) reportedly planted by Maoists. Police say approximately 35-40 Maoists initiated the attack with landmines and gunfire. The Greyhounds unit returned fire, forcing the Maoists to retreat.
The bodies of the slain commandos were transported to Warangal for post-mortem examinations. Panchayat Raj Minister D. Anusuya, Director General of Police Jitender, and other senior officials paid their respects at the Warangal Police Commissionerate. The incident highlights the ongoing conflict between security forces and Maoist insurgents in the region.
