Fri May 09 13:28:04 UTC 2025: **Karnataka’s SUCI-C to Protest Central and State Government Policies**
Bengaluru, Karnataka – The Socialist Unity Centre of India-Communist (SUCI-C) will hold a state-level protest in Bengaluru’s Freedom Park on May 14th, targeting both the central and state governments’ policies. State Secretariat member M. Shashidhar criticized the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government for increasing the prices of essential services like milk, electricity, water, and property tax, while also condemning the Modi-led BJP government’s increases in petrol, diesel, and LPG gas prices.
Shashidhar stated that these policies, described as anti-labour, anti-farmer, and anti-people, have negatively impacted various segments of society. The SUCI-C demands include lowering prices of essential commodities and services, improving government hospital facilities (including filling vacant posts), increasing the number of working days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act from 100 to 200, and implementing policies to support farmers through financial aid and price stabilization. They also called for the reversal of the state government’s decision to close 6,000 government schools and urged the filling of long-vacant government positions, as well as the formal employment of ASHAs and anganwadi workers.
