**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – May 9, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society (APCO) and Lepakshi are set for a major transformation, according to Special Chief Secretary for Handlooms and Textiles, R. P. Sisodia. In a review meeting on Friday, Sisodia outlined a comprehensive modernization plan aimed at boosting profitability and global competitiveness.
The plan includes the creation of unified, multi-brand showrooms to consolidate product lines and enhance the customer experience. A strong digital marketing push, utilizing a new mobile app and WhatsApp marketing, will target younger consumers. To increase revenue, the plan proposes incorporating private advertising within showrooms and leveraging unused assets for commercial purposes.
Financial reforms are also key, with a proposed single banker to handle all transactions, offering benefits like CSR contributions and reduced interest rates. The adoption of a double-entry accounting system will improve transparency. Sales strategies will be revamped, introducing reward and punishment systems for sales personnel and implementing dynamic pricing models.
Finally, product diversification, improved branding, and enhanced visual appeal will target urban and global markets. The overall goal is to elevate APCO and Lepakshi into vibrant, globally competitive entities, revitalizing the state’s handloom sector.
