Thu May 08 20:01:03 UTC 2025: ## Delhi on High Alert Following India’s Cross-Border Operation

**New Delhi, India –** Following a deadly terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam town that claimed 26 lives, and India’s subsequent launch of Operation Sindoor targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the Delhi government has issued a high alert and cancelled all leave for government employees. Tensions between India and Pakistan are escalating.

The city is experiencing heightened security measures, with increased police patrols, deployment of paramilitary forces at critical infrastructure (including markets, metro stations, hotels, residential colonies, and airports), and intensified vehicle checks at city entry points. Anti-sabotage measures are also underway, with bomb disposal squads inspecting key public locations.

District Magistrates are conducting meetings to assess emergency preparedness, while police are coordinating round-the-clock to monitor law and order. The Delhi administration has mobilized its disaster management and health response apparatus. Officials have confirmed that security inspections and reviews of CCTV footage and security personnel deployment are underway at various locations, such as the Mayur Vihar Phase-1 metro station.

The government’s order barring leave for employees until further notice underscores the severity of the situation and the need for heightened vigilance. The increased security measures reflect a proactive response to the escalating tensions and aim to ensure public safety.
