**VISAKHAPATNAM, May 9, 2025** – Following heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, police in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts have launched intensified security measures. These measures, implemented over the past few days, include thorough vehicle checks at key junctions and sensitive locations, as well as identity verification for individuals staying in hotels and lodges.
A city-wide “Nakha Bandhi” operation in Visakhapatnam, conducted from 8 p.m. on May 8 to 11 a.m. on May 9, resulted in the checking of 1,942 vehicles, with five seized for lacking proper documentation. Similar checks were carried out by Anakapalli police, focusing on railway stations, bus stands, and other potentially vulnerable areas. These operations were overseen by DSP-rank officers. The increased security presence aims to monitor the movement of suspicious individuals and maintain public safety.
