Fri May 09 02:24:07 UTC 2025: ## India Repels Multiple Drone and Missile Attacks, Claims Downed Pakistani F-16

**NEW DELHI** – India’s armed forces successfully intercepted a wave of drone and missile attacks launched from Pakistan on Thursday evening, according to sources. At least eight missiles were shot down across Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir. Following the attacks, airports nationwide are on high alert and security measures have been significantly heightened. Authorities implemented blackouts in many areas and activated defense systems in response to the threat.

Sources claim that an F-16 fighter jet belonging to the Pakistani Air Force was also downed by Indian forces, although official confirmation is pending. This follows an earlier announcement by India stating it had thwarted a similar attack targeting 15 cities across northern and western India, resulting in the destruction of a Pakistani air defense system in Lahore.

These developments come after India launched “Operation Sindoor” on Wednesday, responding to a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. In that operation, India reportedly launched 24 missiles in 25 minutes, targeting nine alleged terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Security drills have been conducted nationwide to prepare for potential further attacks. The escalating situation highlights a significant increase in tensions between India and Pakistan.
