**New Delhi, May 9, 2025** – India’s air defense systems successfully repelled multiple waves of missile and drone attacks launched by Pakistan on Thursday, May 8th, 2025. The attacks targeted civilian and military locations in northern and western India, including Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, Satwari, Samba, R.S. Pura, and Arnia.
According to the Integrated Defence Staff, a “substantial” number of missiles and loitering munitions were launched by Pakistan in the early hours of Thursday. These attacks were countered by the Indian armed forces using both kinetic and non-kinetic means, neutralizing the threat with no reported losses on the Indian side. Further attacks in the evening, involving eight missiles and multiple drones, were also successfully intercepted and destroyed.
Following the attacks, several Indian states, including Punjab, Haryana, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, remain on high alert. The Jammu and Kashmir government closed all educational institutions for two days and deployed senior officers to border districts to enhance communication and response capabilities.
