**Belagavi, Karnataka:** A wave of pride swept through the village of Konnur in Belagavi district, Karnataka, following the media briefing on “Operation Sindoor.” Colonel Sofia Qureshi, an officer in the Indian Army’s Signal Corps, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh jointly announced details of the successful operation, which targeted nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK on the nights of May 7th and 8th, 2025. Colonel Qureshi’s father-in-law, Gausaab Bagewadi, expressed overwhelming joy and pride in his daughter-in-law’s achievement.

Bagewadi, who described the celebratory atmosphere in his village, stated, “My daughter-in-law has made me proud. She came to the village about six months ago, and today, the villagers are congratulating me. I am very happy.” He added that he had spoken to his son, also an officer in the Indian Army, reassuring him that there was no need to worry.

Colonel Qureshi, whose husband Colonel Tajuddin Bagewadi also serves in the Indian Army, hails from a family with a long history of military service. Her participation, along with Wing Commander Singh, in the initial announcement of Operation Sindoor resonated deeply across the nation. The village of Konnur is celebrating, with villagers sharing sweets, children proudly mentioning her name, and women praising her as an inspiration.
