**New Delhi, May 9, 2025** – The National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) strongly condemned the recent mass evictions of approximately 20,000 street vendors in Delhi. The evictions, which began April 28th, are part of a city-wide cleanliness initiative. NASVI national coordinator Arbind Singh alleges that the evictions were conducted forcefully, with vendors’ kiosks forcibly removed. The group is demanding proper enforcement of the Street Vendors Act, 2014, and has called for an end to these actions. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has yet to respond to requests for comment.
