Fri May 09 11:59:16 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Steps Up Dam Security Amidst India-Pakistan Tensions
**Belagavi, Karnataka, May 9, 2025** – Following heightened tensions along the India-Pakistan border, Karnataka has significantly increased security around major dams and reservoirs across the state. Over 100 personnel from the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) have been deployed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri reservoir in Almatti, Vijayapura district. This deployment includes a team led by an assistant commandant, inspectors, sub-inspectors, and constables, working in eight-hour shifts. Additional security measures involve patrolling the reservoir’s backwaters by boat and restricting access to the dam premises, including prohibiting visitors from climbing the gates and driving near the dam. Similar heightened security measures are also in place at the Hidkal reservoir (Ghataprabha river) and the Naviluteertha reservoir (Malaprabha river). District police are also assisting in these security efforts. KSISF has been guarding dam sites in the state since 2016.
