**UDHAGAMANDALAM, May 9, 2025** – The annual Ooty dog show commenced today at the Government Arts College grounds, drawing large crowds as the summer festival season begins. The first day featured obedience tests, with 45 dogs competing and judged by J. Rangarajan. Separate specialty shows were also held for Beagles (30 entries), Indian breeds (60 entries), and Dachshunds (70 entries), judged by D. Krishnamurthy and Gopikrishna respectively.
Rajini Krishnamurthy, president of the South of India Kennel Club, which organized the event, was present. The show continues Saturday and Sunday with the “All Breeds Dog Show” and the “Vetri Duraisamy and Murthy Memorial Dog Shows.” The event coincides with other summer festivities in the area, including a spices show in Gudalur and the annual flower show at the Government Rose Garden.
