Fri May 09 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Andreeva Advances in Rome, Raducanu Cruises to Third Round
**Rome, Italy** – Mirra Andreeva, the 18-year-old rising star, continued her impressive run at the Internazionali d’Italia, securing her 18th WTA 1000 victory of the season. Despite a slow start against qualifier Emiliana Arango, Andreeva ultimately triumphed 6-2, 6-4 in a match that lasted 89 minutes. The win marks Andreeva’s first main-draw victory in Rome and propels her into the third round, where she will face Linda Noskova.
Andreeva’s aggressive playing style, characterized by a high number of winners, was tested by Arango’s consistent baseline game. Arango took an early lead in the second set, but Andreeva adjusted her strategy, employing longer rallies and capitalizing on break points (converting six out of ten) to secure the win. Only World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka boasts more WTA 1000 wins this year. This victory extends Andreeva’s winning streak against players outside the Top 50 to nine matches.
Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu also progressed smoothly, defeating lucky loser Jil Teichmann 6-2, 6-2. Raducanu’s strong serve, coupled with six aces, proved too much for Teichmann. This win represents only Raducanu’s third clay-court match of the season and her 20th overall. She benefited from Ekaterina Alexandrova’s withdrawal due to a right shoulder injury. Raducanu will now face her next opponent in the third round.
