**Coimbatore, May 9, 2025** – The All-India Russian Education Fair will bring 10,000 MBBS seats to Indian students for the 2025-2026 academic year, a significant increase from the 8,000 offered last year. The fair, taking place in Coimbatore on May 13th and subsequently in Salem, Tiruchi, and Madurai, features eight Russian government universities.
According to Suresh Babu C., Director of Study Abroad Educational Consultants, over 300,000 international students are currently enrolled in Russian institutions, with medicine being the most popular choice for Indian students. Approximately 25,000 Indians are already pursuing MD degrees (equivalent to MBBS in India) at 30 Russian universities.
A key advantage is that Russia is the only foreign country fully compliant with the latest National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines. MBBS courses are offered at subsidized rates starting from ₹3 lakh per year, with 200 full scholarships available this year. Eligibility requires clearing NEET with a minimum of 50% (40% for SC/ST and OBC categories), with Tamil medium students also eligible. No additional entrance exams like CET or IELTS are needed.
The fair will offer spot admissions for various programs, including those in biotechnology, AI, and data science.
