Fri May 09 02:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Baloch Liberation Army Claims Control Over Third of Balochistan, Launches Major Attacks

**QUETTA, PAKISTAN –** The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of major attacks across Balochistan, asserting control over a significant portion of the province. The group alleges the Pakistani army has abandoned several posts following a coordinated offensive.

In a statement released today, the BLA detailed six separate attacks targeting Pakistani military personnel, intelligence operatives, and communication towers using remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs). A particularly deadly attack, launched at 4 AM Thursday in the Dhang area of Jamaran, targeted a Pakistani army bomb disposal squad (BDS), resulting in the death of at least one officer, according to the BLA. The group also reported multiple grenade attacks on other military installations, claiming numerous casualties.

The BLA’s claim extends to seizing territory bordering Afghanistan and Iran. While the Pakistani army has yet to officially comment on the extent of BLA’s control, emergency-like conditions have been reported across several regions of the province, with residents urged to remain indoors. Earlier this week, reports surfaced of attacks on a Frontier Corps headquarters and a military checkpoint.

These developments follow a series of cross-border attacks. On Thursday night, Pakistan reportedly launched missile and drone attacks on several Indian military installations, which were intercepted by Indian air defenses. India subsequently retaliated with strikes in Lahore and Karachi. The escalating tensions raise serious concerns about regional stability. The BLA’s claims, while yet to be independently verified, indicate a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict in Balochistan.
