**Madurai, May 8, 2025** – Water levels in major dams across Tamil Nadu remain stable, according to the latest report from The Hindu. While recent rainfall has boosted inflow, levels are well below maximum capacity.
The Mullaperiyar dam reported a level of 114.35 feet (maximum 142 ft), with an inflow of 197 cusecs and outflow of 100 cusecs. The Vaigai dam registered a level of 55.27 feet (maximum 71 ft), with an inflow of 25 cusecs and an outflow of 72 cusecs. Combined storage in Periyar credit stands at 2,031.59 mcft.
Rainfall in the 24 hours ending Thursday morning varied across locations, with Vaigai dam receiving the highest at 46.8 mm, while other areas saw significantly lower amounts. Authorities continue to monitor water levels and rainfall patterns.
