Thu May 08 04:30:00 UTC 2025: **Tigers Edge Rockies in Extra Innings, Hinch Reaches 900 Wins**

DENVER — Spencer Torkelson’s 10th-inning double propelled the Detroit Tigers to an 8-6 victory over the struggling Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night, securing A.J. Hinch’s 900th career win as a Major League manager. Hinch becomes the 75th manager in MLB history to reach this milestone.

The game went to extras after a back-and-forth affair that saw both starting pitchers, Jackson Jobe (Tigers) and Chase Dollander (Rockies), knocked out early. Jobe allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, while Dollander conceded six in three. The Rockies’ offense, led by Ryan McMahon’s four hits (including a two-run homer and two doubles) and Michael Toglia’s two doubles and a two-run homer, kept the game close. Javier Báez contributed two two-run singles for Detroit.

In the 10th, Riley Greene started on second base per extra-innings rules, and Torkelson’s double off Rockies reliever Zach Agnos (0-1) gave the Tigers the lead. An error by Rockies left fielder Jordan Beck allowed another run to score. Will Vest (2-0) earned the win, escaping a jam in the ninth and retiring Adael Amador in the 10th to secure the victory.

The loss drops the Rockies to a major league-worst 6-29, tying them for the second-worst record through 35 games in the live-ball era. Their challenging schedule continues, with 29 consecutive games against teams above .500 before facing a sub-.500 opponent again in early June.

The two teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday.
