Thu May 08 12:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Giant Bronze Statue of Woman Installed in Times Square
**New York, NY** – A striking 12-foot bronze sculpture of a young woman has been installed in Times Square, captivating passersby. Created by figurative artist Thomas J. Price, the artwork, titled “Grounded in the Stars,” is part of a series challenging preconceived notions of identity and representation.
The statue, positioned on the north side of Duffy Square, stands in contrast to the area’s existing statues of men. Its everyday clothing and pose, reminiscent of Michelangelo’s David, invite engagement and contemplation. The piece is a result of observations and open calls across New York, Los Angeles, and London.
The installation is accompanied by Price’s “Man Series,” stop-motion animations projected nightly on Times Square billboards throughout May. This series focuses on the intrinsic value of the individual and amplifies traditionally marginalized voices.
Artist Thomas J. Price stated that his intention is for the work to become integrated into the fabric of Times Square, engaging with both the location’s history and its transient visitors. He hopes the art will foster meaningful connections and reflection on the human condition and cultural diversity.
“Grounded in the Stars” will remain on display until June 17th. Time Out New York encourages readers to visit the impressive installation.
