**COIMBATORE, May 8, 2025** – Ganapathy P. Rajkumar, Member of Parliament, has urged the Indian Railways to develop Podanur and Coimbatore North railway stations as termini to alleviate congestion at the landlocked Coimbatore Junction. In a meeting with railway officials, Mr. Rajkumar also advocated for the restoration of all pre-COVID train services.

His proposals include redeveloping Coimbatore Junction, Coimbatore North Junction, and Podanur Junction under the Amrit Bharat scheme, with regular updates provided to MPs on project progress. He specifically requested that trains begin and end their routes at Coimbatore North and Podanur, citing the need for the Coimbatore-Bangalore Vande Bharat Express to stop at Coimbatore North and the Mangalore Intercity Express to terminate at Podanur. IT professionals have also requested a stop at Carmelaram for the Bangalore-bound train.

Further requests included initiating pit line works, introducing a Coimbatore-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express, extending train no. 56113/114 to Madurai, launching a new Jan Shatabadi Express from Coimbatore to Tiruchendur, and restoring the previously discontinued Coimbatore-Rameswaram Express.
