Hyderabad, India – Pat Cummins, captain of both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL and the Australian national cricket team, is looking ahead to the upcoming World Test Championship final against South Africa. Speaking at a promotional event for Carrera Eyewear on Wednesday, Cummins expressed his team’s strong motivation to retain the trophy. “It would be awesome to hold on to the trophies again,” he said, highlighting the team’s success in Test cricket over the past two years.
Cummins acknowledged the team’s early exit from the IPL playoffs, attributing it to inconsistencies in both batting and bowling performances and varying pitch conditions. He praised the contributions of several SRH players, including Aniket, Zeeshan, and Harshal Patel, while acknowledging Mohammed Shami’s less-than-stellar season. He noted the challenges of T20 bowling and the tight margins for error in the format.
Despite SRH’s IPL disappointment, Cummins is confident about Australia’s prospects in the World Test Championship final. He highlighted the team’s experience playing in England and the upcoming training period in London. “I think we have the experience…just about everyone in that team will have a long career kind of to look back on and draw experience from,” he stated. He also shared his excitement about his own Carrera Eyewear collaboration. The final is set for June 11-15 in England.
