Thu May 08 10:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru-Made Drones Used in Indian Military Operation “Operation Sindoor”
**New Delhi, May 8, 2025** – Indian armed forces successfully used Bengaluru-manufactured loitering munitions, also known as suicide drones, in a cross-border operation targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. The operation, codenamed “Operation Sindoor,” marked the first large-scale deployment of this technology by the Indian military.
The drones, developed by a Bengaluru-based private company in a joint venture with an Israeli military technology firm, are fully autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems (UAS) capable of precision strikes. The companies first partnered at Aero India several years ago, with the Israeli firm transferring technology to the Indian partner. The Indian Army subsequently procured over 100 of these drones.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the use of the drones in a press briefing. The munitions reportedly caused significant damage to the targeted terrorist camps. The successful operation highlights India’s growing indigenous defense capabilities and its strategic partnership with Israel in the field of military technology.
