Thu May 08 00:50:00 UTC 2025: ## India Deploys S-400 Missile System Amidst Rising Tensions with Pakistan
**NEW DELHI** – India has reportedly deployed its advanced S-400 air defense system in response to escalating tensions with Pakistan. The powerful system, capable of intercepting enemy aircraft, missiles, and drones, is seen as a deterrent against potential Pakistani air or missile strikes.
The S-400, a mobile system developed by Russia’s NPO Almaz, is an upgraded version of the S-300. It is believed that systems have been positioned in Punjab and Rajasthan to counter threats from Pakistan, and another is speculated to be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh or Assam to address potential threats from China.
This deployment comes as India also continues development of its indigenous long-range Project Kusha missile defense system, designed to intercept surface-to-air missiles with a range of 150-350 kilometers. The DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) is developing the system, which is expected to rival the S-400 and Israel’s Iron Dome in effectiveness.
The strategic deployment of the S-400 highlights India’s commitment to bolstering its defenses in the face of perceived threats. The simultaneous development of indigenous systems underscores India’s ambition to achieve self-reliance in its defense capabilities.
