Wed May 07 15:43:48 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Conducts Massive Civil Defence Mock Drill

**Hyderabad, India (May 7, 2025)** – Hyderabad successfully conducted “Operation Abhyaas,” a large-scale civil defence mock drill, on Wednesday afternoon. The exercise, involving multiple agencies including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Telangana Fire and Disaster Response Department, police, and medical staff, tested the city’s preparedness for major emergencies.

The drill, initially hampered by false reports circulating on social media claiming its cancellation, involved simulated rescue operations at four apartment complexes across the city. Residents, briefed the previous night or morning, participated by enacting evacuations and receiving simulated emergency medical care.

A simulated bomb blast triggered the main rescue phase, with emergency vehicles responding and transporting “injured” residents to temporary medical camps and a nearby hospital. Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand emphasized the importance of the drill in ensuring both mental and physical readiness for emergencies, highlighting the need for swift action against misinformation spread through social media. He stated that all official communication will be channeled through the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) to prevent future confusion. The drill underscored the city’s commitment to effective emergency response and coordination among various agencies.
