JAIPUR, Rajasthan (May 8, 2025) – Rajasthan conducted large-scale civil defence mock drills across 28 cities on Wednesday, May 7th, in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack and “Operation Sindoor.” The drills, ordered by the Union Home Ministry, included simulated air strikes (the first in Jaipur in five decades), blackouts, and emergency evacuation procedures.

Schools in four border districts bordering Pakistan (Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sriganganagar) were closed as a precaution, and exams were postponed. Airports in Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Kishangarh were temporarily shut down. Heightened security measures were implemented in border areas.

The drills involved various agencies, including police, fire brigades, and government officials who participated in rescue and evacuation training. Even the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station in Rawatbhata participated. A madrasa in Jaipur expressed support for the Indian airstrikes in Pakistan conducted as part of Operation Sindoor.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, returning from a BJP training camp, oversaw the situation and cancelled all police leave. He emphasized adherence to national security and disaster management standards. The drills follow the Pahalgam attack and aim to improve preparedness for future threats.
