BENGALURU, India (May 9, 2025) – The 23rd edition of The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling event, held in Bengaluru on Thursday, drew a large crowd of students and parents seeking guidance on higher education and career paths. The event featured prominent speakers including UPSC topper Sachin B. (AIR 41), Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, and representatives from various educational institutions.
Sachin B., a doctor-turned-IAS aspirant, shared his “panchajanya” (five commandments) for success: building a strong study ecosystem; assessing skill gaps; prioritizing clarity over hard work; maintaining consistency; and utilizing a smart timetable. He emphasized learning from mistakes and the importance of ambitious goals. He also highlighted the influence of The Hindu newspaper on his development.
Minister Rao praised The Hindu for its truthful reporting and stressed the importance of empowering individuals to build a strong nation. He urged students to carefully consider their career choices and seek guidance, avoiding undue pressure. Other speakers addressed the challenges and opportunities in various fields, including medicine, engineering, chartered accountancy, and cost management accounting. Concerns about the competitive nature of fields like medicine and the impact of AI were also discussed, with experts emphasizing the need for adaptability and skill diversification. The event saw participation from around 40 higher education institutions and approximately 1,200 students and parents.
