Thu May 08 06:09:21 UTC 2025: ## Kerala on High Alert Following India-Pakistan Tensions

**Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – May 8, 2025** – Kerala is under heightened security following increased tensions between India and Pakistan. Authorities have significantly boosted security measures at vital installations across the state in response to the escalating situation.

Key locations receiving increased security include airports, the newly commissioned Vizhinjam international seaport, railway stations, and naval and air bases in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Other crucial infrastructure, such as the Kochi shipyard and LNG terminal, are also under enhanced surveillance.

The Vizhinjam seaport, located just 10 nautical miles from a major international shipping route, has temporarily suspended all visits until further notice from the central government. Security at the port has been substantially increased.

Thiruvananthapuram airport has also implemented heightened security protocols, and passengers are advised to confirm flight statuses before arriving. Potential flight delays or cancellations are possible due to disruptions reported by some airlines.

Defense sources confirm that enhanced security measures are in place across the state per central government instructions. The Navy has intensified coastal patrols, particularly in Kochi, and a security alert has been issued for major dams across Kerala, with increased police presence. These measures are believed to be a direct response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack (Operation Sindoor 2025) and the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict.
