**NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD –** Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following “Operation Sindoor,” a series of Indian military strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7th. The operation, a response to a recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 civilians, has resulted in intense cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC).

Pakistani forces have engaged in heavy shelling in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir for two consecutive days, targeting civilian areas in Karnah.
