**New Delhi, May 8, 2025** – The Indian government held an all-party meeting today to brief political leaders on the details of “Operation Sindoor,” the retaliatory military strikes conducted against terror targets in Pakistan following the April 22nd Pahalgam terror attack. The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

The strikes, carried out early Wednesday, targeted nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including bases belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist groups. The operation was launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians.

The meeting was attended by a broad range of political figures, including Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, J.P. Nadda, and Nirmala Sitharaman, as well as prominent opposition leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and representatives from the Trinamool Congress, DMK, Samajwadi Party, AAP, Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP), BJD, CPI(M), JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), and AIMIM.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that the government aimed to provide a comprehensive briefing to all parties on the operation and its aftermath. This is the second all-party meeting convened by the government in the past two weeks regarding the escalating situation. The first meeting, held on April 24th, focused on the initial aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.
