**Amritsar, Punjab, India –** Amritsar city conducted a second blackout rehearsal early Thursday morning, May 8th, 2025, following a nationwide civil defence mock drill, “Operation Abhyaas.” The drill, which began around 1:30 a.m., urged residents to stay indoors and avoid panic. This follows a similar drill the previous evening.
The exercises come in the wake of “Operation Sindoor,” a military operation launched by India in response to the April 22nd Pahalgam terror attack in which the Indian military targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Amritsar District Public Relations Officer emphasized the importance of calm and cooperation during the drills, reiterating instructions for residents to remain inside with outside lights switched off.
