**QUETTA, Pakistan** – Baloch separatist rebels have launched a second major attack on the Pakistani military in 24 hours, claiming responsibility for the deaths of seven soldiers. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA)’s Special Tactical Operations Squad targeted a Pakistani army vehicle in Machkund, Bolan, using a remotely detonated explosive device. The attack reportedly occurred while the Pakistani army was preparing for a military operation.
This follows an earlier BLA attack in the Kelag area of Kech district, which also resulted in reported Pakistani military casualties.
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi commented on the escalating situation in Balochistan, describing the province as an “unbridled horse” that Pakistan is losing control of, particularly at night. The BLA’s continued attacks highlight the ongoing insurgency and Pakistan’s struggles to maintain control in the restive region.
