Thu May 08 05:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Balochistan IED Attack Kills 12 Pakistani Soldiers

**QUETTA, Pakistan** – A bomb blast in Balochistan, Pakistan, has killed twelve Pakistani soldiers. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted a military vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) near Mach in the Kachhi district. Among the fatalities were Special Operations Commander Tariq Imran and Subedar Umar Farooq. The vehicle was completely destroyed in the explosion.

The Pakistani army has launched a security operation to clear the area. This latest attack follows a recent crackdown on militant activity in the province, during which ten terrorists were killed in separate incidents last week. The BLA has a history of targeting Pakistani security forces, notably a March attack on the Jaffar Express train that resulted in numerous civilian and military casualties.

Balochistan has experienced ongoing unrest for two decades, fueled by grievances over the province’s resource exploitation and alleged human rights abuses. The BLA’s claim of responsibility underscores the continuing conflict in the region.
