Thu May 08 15:40:00 UTC 2025: ## India Repels Massive Pakistani Cross-Border Attack

**Jammu, India –** Pakistan launched a large-scale cross-border attack late Tuesday evening, targeting multiple Indian locations including the Pathankot airbase, Jaisalmer, and Jammu. The assault, reportedly in retaliation for Operation Sindhur (the nature of which remains unspecified in this report) and the destruction of a Pakistani HQ-9 air defense system, involved drones, rockets, and missiles.

However, the Indian Army and Air Force successfully thwarted the attack, claiming no damage to Indian assets and shooting down at least two Pakistani F-16 fighter jets. India’s S-400 air defense system reportedly intercepted eight Pakistani missiles. Multiple drones were also shot down near Jaisalmer and Pathankot airbases. Explosions were reported in Jammu, where a blackout was imposed following drone attacks near Jammu University. Further explosions were reported in Samba.

Simultaneously, Pakistan engaged in heavy shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in various sectors, including Poonch, Samba, Kathua, Akhnoor, RS Pura, Kupwara, and Tangdhar. The Indian Army retaliated forcefully. A blackout was also imposed in Bhuj, Gujarat, near the Pakistan border. The Indian military maintains that all Pakistani attacks were successfully repelled.
